Re: cat dog contest
Dewey, don't worry about me! I won't go anywhere near you or your dog, if you think it may hamper the hunt. I said we had radio's and would wait till commanded to do other wise. But I understand if you or anyone else wants to hunt with the judges only, that's fine with me. I answered because I'm the one that asked J.C..
Well! B-N-B and David, I'll enter and you can hunt with me during the contest if you like!! I just bought a dog (went in 1/2 with J.C.) from John Warner. It's one of the Talker pups, that J.C. has 2 Brothers and a Sister of. I'm sure he will enter 1 or 2 of them. John has been playing with motorcycles and wasn't hunting!!
J.C., can a hunter enter more than (1) dog ? (1) to hunt one weekend, and another for a different weekend.

Sounds fun! I'm in. Post your address and your money will be on its way. I don't care who comes along or what conditions I get dealt. I will do my best and will NOT make excuses.

Re: cat dog contest
Yes dewey not every weekend will have the same weather. That is why im having a draw to see which weekend each individual gets to hunt. If my weekend its -20 I guess I better get a warmer coat. lol . Mixing dogs after its over to see the dogs compete against eachother is fine . But it will not be part of this competition. This will be held in season . Im going to use training season to get the cats in shape. Not everyone will agree no matter how it is ran. So just sign up and lets do this thing. lol Another reason why its not in training season is there are a lot of deer and elk hunters running around.

Re: cat dog contest
A holed cat counts if the judge has proof its in the hole. with his eyes or ears.
Re: cat dog contest
There is a lot of good cat dogs out there and hunters. If a hunter draws a weekend that it rains a couple of inches of rain every day he will catch cats but the numbers will not be high. If a hunters draws during the rut with good weather he should come up with good numbers. Is the point of this hunt to see who has a good bobcat dog or is it just for the hunters ego? We have a state bobcat hunt now with very little participation, we tried one during training season not many entered. I think this cat hunt is a good idea to see some good dogs work. The idea of having the top dogs hunted on the same day not together would show me more of the ability of the dog not left up to chance. Dewey

Re: cat dog contest
J.C., Will the entries be allowed to change Dates with another if it helps fit their schedule, and is a least (1) week in advance of their turn to compete. ( Days example only)
I know some out there plan hunting trips and doing something like this would help your plans if you drew a Date that hits in that period.. Just trying to ask ????? before the Draw..

Re: cat dog contest
dewey are u in or out? YOU can nit pick this to death and your not going to change anything. Even if the dogs were hunted on the same day it wouldn't be any different . The cats still have to move . If I went out a road and hit a cat and u went out a road and nothing moved, is that fair? Pony up the franklin and come on in , the water is fine.

Re: cat dog contest
How many Slick trees doe's a judge have to go to before he calls "BULLS#^T", and refuses to go. Also Dewey, I think the weather will play in this also. But David will put on his boots and hat and dive right in there with a camera and the judges, while B-n-B and I use the recorder from the warm truck with the window cracked..LMAO!!!

Dang, where we came from you can't tackle someone after they already beat you to the end zone. You just want to be able to win with your Bassett Hounds JC.

Re: cat dog contest
Do the Hunters "HAVE TO GO TO THE TREE", If so is it fair to be picked up at the "BOTTOM" or is that cheating on the overall time???..David I'll go if you'll go! But!, B-n-B will drink all the coffee and eat the Lunch while we're crawling threw the soaking brush and falling off wet logs, LOL!!

David,
I just talked to Mom about this and rather than wait we will tell you now so you can enter this....heck we will pay your entry fee.....anyway in the fine Print,(Under the Gum label) on Dad's "Last Will and Testament" was a Codicil whereby he gave you Choctaw for one year (possession rights only, no Breeding Rights).
Now "WE" all know Running Hounds can not Tree.....specially not in the huge Timber in Coos County, OR. But maybe you and he can put enough in Holes or on the Tailgate to make a respectable Showing. He has Treed Bobcats in VA, SC, FL, MS, LA, AR, OK, KS, and soon in Texas so maybe you and he can have some fun in OR.
We are very serious about this and will have money on the way to JC Monday, so be nice to that Boss so you can get the time off when JC gives you the Date!
JC,
The Thieves who have most of our Hounds are about to have a "Come to Jesus" moment in their Lives. If they do not Kill the Hounds as they have threatened to Do, I will enter one in this Contest if it is open to non OR Bobcat Hounds.
I hope David will take us up on this as it (the Contest) sounds like lots of fun to be had by all!
