Dog is gun shy...
Dog is gun shy...
Has anybody cured a gun shy dog or have any ideas of how to cure it?

I would stand near him when he is eating and shoot a cap gun behind my back. If he quits eating and hides take his food away and do the same thing the next day. It shouldn't take more then a couple days till he stands and eats and your shooting away.
Then shoot a .22 before feeding time he will be drooling, and then take him hunting, shoot out a few coons and let him wool them. But not to many, make him want it.

I will try that for sure. Thank you for the tips!

There is a cd that helps if they r not too bad off. Worked on one of my timid little dog. It sounds like classical music with gun fire. The gun fire progressively gets louder and the music quiets. Works good

JakeG,
No wonder that works! I would rather take a chance on getting shot than listen to that myself.LOL
