Wanting to talk to someone in Idaho

So me and my girlfriend are going to be on a road trip through western Idaho starting in coeur d alene working are way south over a weeks time. We are checking out where we would like to move to after the holidays. One of the big things for me is I will need work and I want to run my dogs, so I was hoping to try to get a little insight to some of the areas form some one in the area if any one would be willing to have a beer with us and talk for an hour or so I would much appreciate it.

I won't be a smart ass like beardawgs, but I lived in white bird and worked at the log mill in Grangeville. It's a good place to work and it has benefits. Great places to hunt and lots if beautiful country. Don't let the local houndsmen intimidate you. Public land means anyone can hunt there. Zones 13, and 18 are great places to run hounds and you stay away from the wolves over there. I don't live there anymore but I am willing to give any hound guy any information I have. The woods are ours to share. Good luck

The geology type who catch no game will give you no info. I have asked myself about idaho and there's always someone with a negative comments. The woods are everyone's to share. Hunt hard

pup, evidently the wolves have spread some since you hunted in the units you mentioned. kyle, I don't know anything about the game south of riggings but north has plenty of game. the issue isn't finding game to run its avoiding wolves. you are going to find wolves pretty state wide from what I hear. I hunt like I always have but I expect to run into them every time out. so far I have been lucky but if anybody tells you their is no wolves in a certain area they are either uninformed or lying. they may stay out of a area for a long time but eventualy they move back in and if you are running dogs then you are gambling. as far as houndsmen its just like every where else. most are decent and helpful but you may run into some that are anal. pm me when you make the move and maybe we can run a cat or two

I hunted in those two units for a year and we saw two wolf tracks the entire time. A breeding pair we guessed. The guy I hunted with has ran those two units for 15 years and has never once had a problem with wolves. Not saying it can't happen and that a few wolves might be present but they only continue to hunt there because they have never had a single problem with a wolf. But yes, in Idaho, you are always taken a chance when turning your dogs loose.

yep pup that was the point I was making. and a breeding pair this year means a whole pack in two years then they branch out. the odds of getting whacked are low when you concider how many hounds are in the woods compared to the amount of attacks, but the fact still remains that you are gambling anywhere in the state.jmo

With every other state outlawing hound hunting, the only chance Idaho has in the long run is to gather up all the hound hunters around so when it happens to come up on the ballet here again we can vote it down like we did the last time. The only problem with that is hound hunters are like children that cant get along.... I say if someone wants to move into our great state of Idaho that will support the hunting cause, well in my eyes your more then welcome. just don't kill every bear, lion , and bobcat you catch, and shoot all the wolves you can.

I couldn't have said it better myself! That's a true houndsmen attitude in my opinion. I don't know why it's always got to be a pissing match between hound guys. We are defending the same thing and we are all in danger of losing our god given rights at anytime. If we all stick together and fight for what is ours, we will survive the fight and live to pass it on to our children and grand children.
