Montana Redbones?
Hello everybody, I am looking into my first pup and I was thinking of buying from a guy up by Helena, Montana called mark bates, he runs some beautiful ttop bred redbones for three fifty, does anyone know this guy, I called him and it seems like a great deal but can never be too sure these days
Re: Montana Redbones?
Husker; this is your NE dude, I got 2 dogs from Travis Sperry whom lives close to Aberdeen SD. 605-380-7915
The dogs I got from him were as advertised....turn them loose and they will find a lion.
These were 5 yrs old , as I remember he was going to have two litters from what he considered a super stud he may have pups or have a line on other dogs, if you are in the east of NE he will be much closer and you could visit him. He is an outfitter or guide in several states and runs bobcats and coons as well as lions.
350 for a pup is at the very high range for price, but maybe these pups can make coffee or cook breakfast. Good luck, asking for refrences is a good idea. Travis hunts in MT so may know of Mark and his dogs
I have had hounds only18 months and got help from folks on this forum when I started.

Re: Montana Redbones?
Mark is a hard hunter and keeps decent dogs. They don't make coffee or cook breakfast......they catch game. $350 is a pretty fair price for a well bred pup out of proven hunting dogs. I see a lot of pups priced higher that are mixed breeding or show dogs. $350 is a small investment in the big picture. Invest in a well bred pup and put the time into hunting it and it will pay off for you. akbruce66 When you find a dog that makes coffee and breakfast let me know please. I already have a bunch that catch game but I don't have a cook. If the Travis you speak of is Travis Stirek he knows Mark. Husker Red good luck with whatever you get.

We are starting one of Marks pups right now and he shows huge potential, trees hard at seven months. Also have a buddy running some of his dogs and he trees a pile of cats with them. I would not hesitate if he has one available.

I am sure Mark or Kevin would set you up good. Just remember, there are no perfect dogs. Any dog is going to give trials and disappointment.
