Ran him again
Put the dogs down in front of the truck at 1:20 this morning, struck a fox at 1:24 was under him and running at 1:35. Pulled out my lawn chair poured a cup of coffee and sat right there and had a pretty good race for 1 hr 15 min then the ol fox put it on them. He is a ducking dodging joker that is surely challenging for these young hounds in that scrub thicket and brier patch he likes to run in but their getting better. Going back after him again tonight after the football games. By the time I have these young hounds trained I'll have that ol fox in shape where he can really run.

Re: Ran him again
First thing last night two of the young dogs struck went off the road and opened worked on about 75 yds and opened again, bout that time the old broke dog shot out in the road, came to the truck and loaded herself in the dog box, ( Southenfox can sure teach one that messing with deer will not be tolerated ) I got out found the deer track and toned both hounds and they got back to the road. Hit the fox about the same place as night before, trailed him for about hour, old dog was having a tough time with it. I don't beleive they were any closer then they were when they started, finally petered out about where I sat and listened the the race the night before. Loaded the dogs and went about a 1/4 and put them back out in front of the truck, they struck and bumped around several times on fox and one cat but just never could move anything, gave up and came home about 3am. It was hot and no dew had fallen, slight breeze from the east, I think the scenting conditions were bad. Best excuse I can come up with anyway, would like to hear some more excuses I could use for times like last night and I hear somebody else claim they had a heck of a race just a couple miles away.

Re: Ran him again
scrub didn't go last night but did thurs night , we had a little running its very dry here no water in the woods only water there is is in a place or to in the ditch side the road where the sun cant get to it, seen where probably 8 different fox walked the road and had maybe 20 mins on one turned 3 more out the road and couldn't run any of them , finally found one abt 4 Friday morn and ran him maybe a hour, aint real hard to get them up with them knowing theres a water bucket in the truck, no dew fell till about an hour before daylight, the dust would hang behind the truck for what seemed like 30 mins, its bad dry here , wanted to go tonight but its hot right now and humidity is abt 70% maybe it will rain so I can go, dogs getting a little fat being to not having no running ! but its fixing to change and when it does its going to be on ! you will have to make a trip north and come go with me one night I got plenty of woods to hunt all private land
