I know of no cons of having all females unless they come in heat during a short hunting season and you hunt with others or there are other dogs in the woods where you hunt if you hunted them while they were in heat. I keep mostly females, but have had a couple of outstanding males so I usually have a male or two, hoping for another like them.

You can hunt a female in heat if you rub her up with Vic vapor cream it seems to kill the male interest.

That's interesting ,i've never heard that before.I have a young female coming in heat now so i'll try that .Now that's Vicks Vapor Rub like moms rub on their children's chest ??? I have a mixed pack now and it is a pain!

Plain ole Vicks vapor rub, get several containers and use it every time you cast your dogs. It can lose its odor block after a while. My daddy used it on his bird dogs and it worked fine for him.
