Rock piles and cats

I was wondering if anybody out there could help me with a problem with my hounds and rock piles? My older dog likes to go through the rock piles instead of around them and it takes a while I was just wondering if there was a way to help him out

There are dogs that will look for a way around rocks,bluffs and other obstacles but they're a product of breeding rather than training.Perhaps you could train a dog to go around but i would search out for dogs that do it by instinct.

I had one dog that would come to a rock pile and just start treeing. After a couple of times of walking her around the pile to cut the track coming out she caught on and started going around by herself. Would be hard to correct one that went through the pile as you would have to be there at the same time before they went through, but that's all I can think of. Good luck.
