Respect

Post by dwalton »

I just read the rules for posting maybe everyone should go back and take a look. We have a lot of young people on here ,a lot of people that has been there and done that. Catching game with hounds is not hard to do unless you haven't. There are dogs for all types of hunting and all types of hunters. People that can only hunt once in a while and ones that hunt all the time. Different climates and terrain. What works for one area or one game may not work at another. There is something you can learn from everybody. I have had the privilege to hunt with a lot of good hunters and dogs in most of the west. What I know is what I know about hunting no more or less. What I share is what is so for me you may disagree with it, fine but have something to back it up. I know that most of you young people have it figured out but the older you get the more you will listen. To call someone a name, to call them a liar or insinuate that someone is lying shows very little respect for them or more important yourself. You are only trying to bring then down to your level. I have yet to see someone that I could not learn something from, be it good or bad, to do or not to do. I love a good debate to bring new ideas or thing that I have not seen or believe that could be done. It took me a lot of years to get to where I am and what I know. Thanks for the PM and phone calls from people that want to listen and learn. Respect thats a pretty big word that all of us need to use more often. It is not my place to judge. EACH TO THEIR OWN. Well said Dewey, when i was 30, i thought I knew it all! Now I'm old and realize how stupid I was.
Just about everyone can learn something from other people, if they would just listen. What they learn may not work in their country, but then again, it might if they would just be open to trying.
I think most houndsmen have good hearts and a lot of what is put down in print does not come across as intended. JMHO

Dewey, and Big N Blue, thanks for reminding us. We need to remember, some times it ain't right and it ain't wrong, just different. When words, or actions from others upset or disappoint us, before we act or react, I try to ask myself,"what was really their intentions". Seems to help avoid hard or hurt feelings. A quote from my 99 yr old Dad, " It's human to err ,Devine to forgive. Thanks again. I'll hush now, John

with the way the people of this country are going now days , a lot has no clue to what respect even is ! I was taught at a very young age what respect is ! yes sir nor sir yes mam and no mam are just a few, but today its all went to hell in a hand bag, today when somebody does something for you and you say thank you , now they say no problem , what happened to your welcome ! and children used to be taught to be seen and not heard, today a lot will butt into your conversation and talk over you thinking they know everything and don't know anything about anything much except how to push buttons on a cell phone ! todays time is very fast, internet, cell phones , cars, everybody seems to have almost 2 vehicles, and everybody wonders where time has gone its all so fast today , that's where time has gone ! I was taught to respect man and woman regardless of who they are and what they have ! mama and daddy has to much going on today and there children are showing it, as I have always been taught to do a whole lot of listening and a little bit of talking and one can learn something, respect is something that is going out the door for a lot, today its about out doing the other person, a lot will bankrupt thereselfs trying to out do the jones down the road and if they cant they wont be friends long !!! jelousy is mosts problem , I don't care what another has , you cant take it with you, so about all I want is a better hound , to see my family have good health , not to struggle and love there fellow man ! and be the best person one can be, and always be , and treat everybody the same .

Southern Fox, I, too was disappointed with some young peoples manners, until I recently watched a portion of the Future Farmers of America National Convention , on RFD TV. About 35000 clean cut, neat, intelligent young American Citizens. One of our biggest problems is a bias, liberal, and dishonest media, that promotes and advocates the bad behavior in our youth. Yes, we have some problems, but we have a wealth of good young people. Problem is , good behavior doesn't sell many newspapers or TV ads. I'll hush now, John

Well I have only been at this a couple of years, have read this site front to back and still can't figure much out. So far I've learned some of what not to do so feel free Mr Walton to keep sharing your knowledge because guys like me need it. It's hard to find folks to hunt with so this site and just getting in the woods has been the only way to learn.
