you dirt hunters, a question

thanks for the information guys. our conditions are so varied sometimes that we could be on mars. i do get beat more than once a year, those specific conditions only occur here about once a year, and i hunt them anyway.

elevation, wind , and humidity change at elevation really change things. my dog ran a track backwards for the first time in 6 years monday, just beacause of the conditions. once i got him lined back out, and he convinced himself he was going the right way, we had a beautiful orange cat in the tree. thats 2 treed for 5 tracks. we loose em in the cliffs, but its a great race till they reach em, especially when i am on the opposite ridge watching.

i have been watching the dogs head positon more also. when its lost hes head up and drifting out more, pup came from twist, and back down some as he moves it out. when its a cold track he sticks his nose on about every 7-10 tracks to verify until it warms up. and once its jumped, hes fast enough that very few get away.

do you have an average size for your hounds? does the size make a difference in the drier conditions? my male is 70 lbs inshape, female is 60.
