Wolf Trapping

Alright I've never trapped an animal a day in my life nor have I tried. I've got some wolves moved into my hunting area and want to finish it before it starts. I don't know the first thing about trapping so I guess I'll start with:

What brand or style of trap should I use? I would like to be able to just go to sportsmans or cal ranch and pick up one or two if what they have will be effective. Any suggestions?

Most sporting goods stores sell a call and .223 shells.....

J, check out "related topics listed at the bottom if this page. Also check out "Trapperman.com". I don't know if they allow you to use snares, but find out. They are amazingly cheap and amazingly effective on the other canines. It would allow you many tims the number of sets for the same price.

Check out a guy by the name of Paul Trepis. I went to the regional trapping convention a few years ago and he had a pretty good simenar. He used ram power springs on snares.

I have been using MB750's the Alaskan model. Can get them online at fntpost.com

The MB 750 will give you more traps for your dollar. Don't overlook the Bridger Brawn, it has a bigger jaw and that gives you a slight advantage when trapping in areas that get frequent snows. The Dan Lay trap is a great trap for snow and ice ( looks like it has a life kit) It has the best springs I've seen.

Have you attended the Idaho wolf trapping class yet? Not sure if it is still mandatory, but even if it's not, it's one of the best classes I have ever attended and I have been a trapper since 1976.
