I tried mentioning a small bit about a legal case against SB 1221 and a warden (excuse me they're called wildlife officers now) said something to the effect of "I have my own personal opinions of bear hunting with hounds however there was a legislative decision against it."

Is anyone getting anything more of them?

I'm surprised that the count is this high! I figured it wouldn't be half of what it is.

Me to, I figured that the 48% that F&W said that houndmen took was always low due to the amount of houndsmen that did not mark the box that they used hounds on there tag.

Yep and how many of those bears were taken with hounds this year? I've heard rumors of it going on.

fitz you are dead on / not 20 minutes ago I was driving back from town saw a dog box at a house looked didn't recogonize any of the felllas but ther it was . they were pulling a bear out / this is the 4th one I've seen or been told about . so when we don't get the season back / all we have to do is look at our own ///// there is no way the numbers would be this high / we all know how many we see this time of year just walking down the road ..

Now that most if not all deer seasons have closed the numbers shouldn't change to much, we are at 977 bears taken (as of Nov.3 2014) that's 330 more bears taken than at the same time last year(647 by Oct.31) and 283 less than 2012(1261 taken by Oct. 31 2012), Fish and Wildlife has been up dating the numbers more frequently this year and the numbers shouldn't go up to much more. We have a request in to find out if they are including the road kills and depredation bears, they did this at one time but quit when the take started closing the season early.

There has to be a bunch of those taken with hounds. It's too close for them to be all just regular hunters.

I wonder if they're including depredation and vehicle kills into that? It would make more sense if they are.
