some curs run the snot out of a cat,,,,and sometimes every thing else too lol. I got out of hounds and into curs about nine years ago. went thru some dogs and wound up with kemmers from Nevada. they do everything any hound ive owned did, strike from rig, start, run, locate, tree,,,,piss me off lol. they are young starting and gamey dogs with more brains than most trainers. they tend to hunt for you as a hound hunts mainly for its self and you are just a ride to the woods. my hounds used to hunt for me too after I put four or five years into them the curs do it sooner. they aren't for everybody but if you want to talk cur dogs you can pm me....normally I am proud of my young dogs but you can tell they ran some shit last time out!!proving they will do anything a hound will...lol

lol aint that the truth. I had these two to where they would road right thru a herd of deer and they stayed that way for months. thought well that's behind us,, hot rig strike put them down young dog grabs the first track he comes to sucked the older one into it, and just like that we was burning a deer lmao. yes there was a bobcat track in the snow too. nothing like a dog or a woman to break you're heart lol

What kind of stamina do the Kemmers have? If one compare them to a running walker and maybe combination hunt them as gray fox and bobcat dog. Sometimes a good morning foxhunt the walkers could have 4 hours constant gut wrenching running in THICK ground. Can a Kemmer take that amount of pressure?

from what I have seen most strains will pull the plug if they don't think they can catch the game. I d have one that will go the distance he is blondie/nugget bred. I have only seen the others pull out when they are running behind never when packed up. I run mine all together and don't have that problem at all but when I went to ore and ran with the big boys one of my males would quit after getting behind on a long hardrunning bear race

Most kemmer's won't take that kind of running, there are strains within the breed that can handle long bear races.I have had many that would stay all day long--and some nites!!!!Just as there are better tree dogs in the walker breed there are better curs in the breed! Most of the Striker bred dogs are very good at trailing, many are to slow for bear and bobcat.Derril does not breed for that kind of dog,he wants a bawl mouth, open, cold trailing type of cur.The boys in the east mostly want a fast tree type and don't want one that sticks to a track for hours!!!!!I had then for over 20 years and have culled hard to get the dogs i have now.And all of my dogs have a lot of Derril's dogs in them, just I have bred to some fast ,silent long winded dogs along the way.

I grey fox hunted for 10 years hard. Not in a pen. I sold out due to having kids. I find myself day dreaming about those days that we cat hunted. I was wondering if any one on here has had any luck crossing running walkers with small open mouth curs. It wouldn't take much persuasion to get me back in the game

Been running curs on cats for about 8 years here in PA. I have had good success and that is all I run. Kind of a mixture of bloodlines, and mostly nothing that most folks consider big game bloodlines. I have a older stock male out of a dog named Griz, I believe someone else on here is running dogs out of him also. One female out of Franklin's stuff and Streak breeding that is not your typical idea of a cat dog but I wouldn't give her up for nothing, she has more heart and speed than anything else we have. I believe my older female is out of Franklin's stuff and some Kemmer but she never had papers so I am not sure.

sounds like you put it together nicely. the griz dog from out west? if so he has stryker in him for the trailing, some of the streak blood gives you the snappy catch on the jump probably and franklin blood I don't know much about. what does the franklin blood bring to the table? and please correct me if I missed on the other bloods traits

I've been wondering how your season's been going. Saw the pics on the other message board. Looks like you've been giving the cats the blues. Keep it up!! and good hunting.

Didn't know a cur could catch anything besides a squirrel.
