New to the sport looking to learn!
Hey guys. Like it says I'm new to the sport of lion hunting but been a bobcat trapper all my life. Seems like this site has a ton of very useful information and I've been doing a lot of reading. Planning on getting a pup here hopefully this weekend and then probably another in June. I've trained and helped people train labs which I know is a night and day difference. I guess my main question is do you have any tips just for starting out? I'm hoping to get some books and DVDs to do some learning lol. One question I do have is that we have a couple other non-hound dogs, does that matter. I will probably be building some kennels in the near future for the hounds but in the meantime they will be at free roam to the house and yard like the other dogs. Does raising hounds around other dogs affect them in any way? Probably a dumb question but bear with me loli want to do this right and hopefully one of these days I'll be decent at this! Thanks in advance for taking the time for any input!

As far as books you can't go wrong with John Wick's books. Lots of good honest advice written in very understandable language. Good luck.

It should not make a difference to the hounds to be around the other dogs. If you have a good enough fence it should be fine. Once the hounds get old enough to trail and run and you don't have a good fence you may be spending a lot of time looking for dogs. Many can easily jump a 6 foot fence or if failing that will dig out if they catch an interesting scent.
