Would really appreciate some help...

Post by blackcreekboy »

Seems that there is some movement to end running grizzlys with dogs up here in British Columbia.Which if down the road if this passed would no doubt end running dogs on Black bears.

I want to be able to speak at a meeting that's taking place where a biologist is going to present some data against the issue ....

Those of you folks that have already had this right taken away from u I would really appreciate some feedback on GOOD sources of material to be able to quote, specifically on sow cub separation and dogs "stressing" a bear out from being run repeatedly,or the notion that a bear can be run to exhaustion.

Any help would sure be useful thank you

And a big heads up ...any of u boys in the kootenays that run bears u better start asking questions ...

I wonder how anyone knows if stress affects any animal negatively. I believe animals are constantly in stress. Nature of the beast. Survival of the fittest. Here the forest service closes roads because birds are stressed while nesting. Raptors, yet you always see raptor nests near highways. They reply, stress is different with this bird. Yet we don't even know everything about stress in ourselves. It's not about the animals health. It's about controlling us.

Another thought. This is a clash in cultures. We have been raised in the country, the great outdoors. Others raised in cities, hardly leave there. I can't understand their lifestyle and they can't understand mine. The Indian wars in the US in the late 1800's is a perfect example of cultural clashes. Indians lived off what the lands provided. The white man tilled the land to make the lands provide for him and his animals. The Indian culture is now gone. Yet our society say we want cultural diversity. That would mean I might not like you chasing the animals, but I need to respect your culture. Just some thought.

I've been watching this issue progress on another page, have dates been set for the meeting? There's a guy over on that other site who is considered an expert on g-bears guided for em for many years and I believe biologists do consult with him on some things. Waiting on a reply to a similar question i sent him. Will keep you posted.

Well using as much of their own information in support of hounding seems more helpful then quoting other sources that provide different stats if possible. Every time something like this comes up it underscores how important and helpful a true hound hunters association would be if kept true to protecting our sport where ever they attack it. A experienced speaker , legal, advertising etc. Would be one of the greatest helps we could have. I just don't know how to get the right people to commit the time or get funding to purchase it. Good luck

Get in touch with Doug McMann on here he is also in Facebook. Big hound guy up there owns skinner creek hunts I believe, good fella. He is in BC as well. I'm sure he is already tracking the situation
