Nead help with a redbone male

i have a redbone male that is two years old in june the problem is wen i tern him out on a trail of a coon or cats he just blows past the trail then come back to it then balls out and looses it comes back picks it up then balls out Aegean and so on but i couldn't ask for more when it comes to treeing or grit so if any body can help me with some advice would really appreciate

Seems to me the dog just needs to settle in a bit. Hunting him a bunch ought to help. Before I knew better than to let them my dogs would hit the ground and take off up the road a hellin when I roaded them. To get them to calm down I started letting them down one at a time and let them mill around for a while before we started roading.Often I would just walk with the dogs instead of roading.It took a lond time but they settled down and worked a lot better. Don't know if that helps,but I hope so.

road him before you go hunting and take some air out of him and hopefully that will force him to slow down and think a bit more

The best of the Blakesley line was that way at first/ couldn`t trail and kept returning back and going over an over but they get it with help from you and all of asunden here comes on this fine track and tree up dog and hes got the meat up ! I mean he makes a cold cold nosed track and tree dog ya can be proud of. I seen 1 I owned 1 and Joe Puckett the breeder told methe score on it and I just found out he didn`t lie too me/ no sir ! Peppers Burgandy Hank was goen back too Punjabb The Great and he sure showed Blakesley Blakesley and not all Blakesleys make it but the better ones can`t trail a red hot deer 30 ft and ya step in and just send him on too a working dog on a good track and he will fall in with em and in no time he will be the hauncho himself !

Yeppers....Road the heck out of him. To avoid conditioning him take him out and road him ONLY. No cages. Just road him and go home. Otherwise he will road out, but be anticipating the cage.

sounds like you dont have any older dogs to hunt with?
i think the pup is doing well given the age and lack of experience. it sounds like the pup is learning to use his brain and nose together more. hes got the desire to go forward and has the sense to figure out when he runs over the track too far.
sooner or later with more experience i think youll have a darn good track drivin dog. its just training, keep on doin what youre doin. hell get it all figured out and youll have a dog to be proud of.
the 2 males i hav were kinda like that too. good huntin and good luck

bearbredplotts i have a few older dogs that i hunt and train him with he pays no never-mined to them but like u say more experience will do a lot more for him
