Looking for a catch dog idea
I was wondering if any of you might have a idea of any kind of dog that could work as a catch dog for fox and coyote the idea I had was one or two dogs that could catch a fox or coyote coming in to bait or a game call me reason was it would be better to have a catch dog to put one down or the animal would get away clean the first one that I thought about was one of the sight hound dogs but we don't have a lot of open land but then I might a guy that had A G.S.P that learned himself to catch fox if he came up on one he would catch it and bring it back to the guy or he would bay it in a den until the boy got there and he said if he would let the dog do it he would have dig out the fox and kill it but most of the time he would call the dog off and set a fox trap for it and also I meat a guy on another forum that breed G.W.P that would run coon fox bobcat and coyote and most of the time catching them with two dogs at the most so what would you guys say could you see one of them.being able to have the speed and grit to catch fox or coyote coming into were the dog was or if you might have ideas of one that might be better

Sure I guess. Some of these coyote dogs don't track half bad themselves for a short distance.

Well I was thinking that the problem with the sights hounds was around here we don't have a lot of open space with a hundred yards being a log one I did not know if the fastest ones like the greyhounds could cover ground fast enough to be on one in that short of range but if some of them can work a hot track maybe they could do better than I thought do you know if any of the pure bloods can do that or is it just the ones that are x with tracking blood

Unless you spend almost every day for hours in the timber with one of these fast dogs you are gonna get one killed. Most of these dogs are not "pure bloods" of any kind. That being said they have more than enough greyhound in them to make them way too fast for the inexperienced. Get ya a half cross and go from there. Prolly a pair of pups. Male and female. Or maybe 2 gyps and a male. You will need a male dog though if you start (beep) around with coyotes.

My cousin has a gyp he would prolly sell ya bred to a descent lil bird dog he has. I'm not gonna claim that they would be the best dog gone world beaters ever born but they would be a good start for you and would prolly be about the perfect beginner cross for somebody who knows nothing about these kinda dogs.
She just come off pups here awhile back so would be a bit but might be something to think about.
