I guess i better add my two cents about bear hunting. Most don't know it but I truely do enjoy bear hunting. I do not consider myself even a fair bear hunter but i do enjoy it. I have caught a lot of bear but when i go out with the real masters of that game I know just how weak I am in that area. This is where the rigs is what it is all about to me. Man I love it when the whole rig blows up and the dogs in the box as well! Wow! dump em and listen to em fly! I love that roaring bay up and knowing the dogs are not back booger barking they are putting the pressure on. That roar of tree bear dogs off in a canyon is just about as good as it gets. this is where I love to get to the tree. Unlike lions every bear is different. In our area you never know you may get a black, a red, a chocolate, or even a blond occasionaly. with lions the tracks tell you a lot with bear you can never be too sure. Chaser and i ran one last year that had a really big track but when we finally staggered into the tree there he was all feet and head and a small body. Sometimes it's a family, and occasionaly it is a monster. Just like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get. LOL!

I would have to say the most exciting for me is when you are lucky to be close enough on a cat or lion race to hear your dog go quiet for those few seconds just before that that long raspy bawl that says I know your up there Mr. Kitty!!

used to coonhunt alot before i got hooked on beardogs and thats what i missed the most about coon hunting -



its pretty rare when bear hunting to be there when one dog actually locates and trees and you are close enuff to hear it -a few times it was more of an accident than anything but nyways it has happened several times and its rare enuff that i almost can still hear it

i can understand everybodys favorite thing-

strike on rig is exciting-- when they cold trail and make the jump- when youve lost them for awhile and first hear that roar , treed/bayed-= a flat out hard race is great ---all of the above is great - its why i buy dog food and gas - and turn good equipment into junk lol
