Cameron Cross results

Post by PUG FACE »

What have been the result of crossing tight bred Cameron x Smokey river?
Cameron x Hammer?
Or any other family of blues to Cameron.
Does a cross bring a hybrid vigor to the litter. Is there a downside?
Anyone have a breeding program based on a outcrossed litter bred back to straight Cameron?

Thx

Or any other family of blues to Cameron. Blue eyes, weak feet and tenor bawl.
Does a cross bring a hybrid vigor to the litter. Is there a downside? Yes, but not hybrid vigor on the whole litter, maybe one or two. The downside is starting over on the breeding plan. The litters will increase in size.
Anyone have a breeding program based on a outcrossed litter bred back to straight Cameron? Mr. Cameron had a couple of lines. A good outcross would be crossing back to another one of his lines. If you can find the same breeding in a state as far a way as possible, that would be a great choice.

It would be best to ask him.

Thank you for your insight. I have been calling well known breeders of the line. I asked if del would focus on a line breeding pair then loosen up the next breeding within the family. ...
One of the breeders understood what I was getting at. But wouldn't really elaborate. I kind of came to the conclusion that if you don't want to buy a pup from them...they are kind of unwilling
To explain there breeding practices...if you could forward me Mr Cameron's number I would appreciate.
I understand family breeding from other working breeds that I have been involved with...
What I know may not apply to hounds.
We would line breed or inbreed with the intention of making an outcross..knowing it wasn't going to be breeding stock so much.

The boss man of this site sells, Mr. Cameron's book. https://www.dusupply.com/call-of-the-hounds.html
In his book, he explains his breeding program and the answer to your previous questions.
Tell me more about these well known breeders?

You been around for a minute ...you know who sells them.
Thanks again for your input.
I would still like to hear from folks who have crossed with other tight bred family of blueticks.

well...i was gonna be a smart ass and dig up a kennel using that exact cross you are dying to know about....and truth be told...ive poured over quite a bit of pedigrees from various kennels on the internet....that Cameron blood aint all that popular...of the kennels i found using it...they either didn't post pedigrees, claimed their line from a different cross to the Cameron dogs or of the pedigrees provided were rather clean Cameron with vague outcrosses...

perhaps yer query is a noble one after all

Not many blue dogs in my area. Just trying to glean information for other houndsmen's experiences. Hopefully in the process, learn from others people's successes and failures.
Thx

He's still in Montana but hasn't been selling any puppies for quite some time now.As for adult dogs I don't know if he ever did sell them but just kinda farmed them out to different friends and guides in the area. I could be wrong though. There's got to be someone on here that knows for sure
