Re: Kemmer cur
McClain’s Frosty Jane. A female that Darryl Fry talked to Kenny McClain about using a Striker Straw on and Jane got killed 3 months later. She was fine until a bear or hog touched her, once something bumped her it was caught no matter how big it was.

Re: Kemmer cur
To clear up another post in this thread a couple years ago. McClain’s Frosty was owned by Kenny McClain in Otto, North Carolina. Don’t know where the West Virginia talk got started but it sounds a little fishy. Somebody telling some big windy’s!!

Re: Kemmer cur
It's funny how you guys say "5 or more hounds to get the job done" . Come grab any plott in my yard and take it hunting . They all put game in the tree solo. I will guarantee that. Remember its a big world out there and there's many good hounds that will out do lots of other dogs.deadmammal wrote:McClain’s Frosty HJ.
If you’ll notice, you don’t ever see more than 2 or 3 dogs at a time in these pictures. It doesn’t take 5 or more of them Kemmer’s to do the job like it does hounds. I can’t hunt more than 3 and occasionally 4 together cause they won’t bay when they have that much help, they get too catchy. Most times 3 is way to many if they are all grown dogs they won’t walk a bear, they’ll down one! I’m not a road hunter or a bait hunter. I leave my truck on foot and my dogs strike and catch their own bears. There ain’t no reinforcements being packed or someone waiting on them to cross a road to send more help. They start and finish what they start or they don’t live long here. We do rig some when it’s really hot or when they just blow up in the box on the way in somewhere.

Re: Kemmer cur
This dog has treed more bear solo than any dog i know of. Not because the others quit but he is an independent asshole that will split race every chance he gets. His name is Lt and is a cascade bred plott from north California bred by Dj Mowe and Brian Kyncy.

Re: Kemmer cur
Justahunter, you stated Kemmer’s did not make bear dogs. I’m showing you pictures of BEAR dogs. That’s all I can do. I’m not trying to tell you they are better or worse than what you have. I’ve hunted behind some fine hounds and some fine Kemmer’s just the same. I’ve seen some Elkhound/Kemmer’s that were harder going and longer range than any Dogs I’ve ever seen and that includes hounds. I didn’t like that they were silent on track but they dang sure tree a boatload of bears for them boys and have for over 25 years. I can appreciate that you are a die hard Plott man. I respect that. Believe it or not, I am a die hard Plott man myself but I am also not naive enough to think they are the only thing that I can catch a bear with.

Re: Kemmer cur
I’ll be honest with you Justahunter, I was at the APA Plott hog bay in Hartwell, Ga. The Plott columns you read in full Cry are like watching CNN. They report what they want you to hear. I am a Plott man and that was the most embarrassing display of grit I’ve seen. The Plott is no longer what it was historically. Today’s Plotts are not what Mont hunted and caught bears and hogs with. If you do have a nice strain of Plott you had better work hard to preserve it and keep it intact beacause you will not be able to replace it when it’s gone. If they are like these new age Plotts then they are not Plotts but just another Hound!

Re: Kemmer cur
I do believe the hog and bear bays are a joke. Hunting anything staged is a joke. I don't go to trials its not real and the good dogs know its staged so they are not into it like they would be in the wild.
