Alpha 200i

Post by rickyfarrell10 »

Just wanted to see what everyone thought about the 200? What the price will be and when it will be available in the states? Will it track 15s?

Any hound hunters using a 200i yet? Just wanted to check on thoughts of them. I have GSPs and Pointers. My male pointer is a big runner and it's hard to keep him nearby when grouse hunting. I was about to get the Garmin 550+ until the 200i came out. Where I hunt is often alone and bad cell reception.

I got the 200i because my screen had three nickel sized black spots on the screen.
I am very happy with the screen and how the buttons and locking system will work. It should be a lot easier to keep it on the screen that you want without accidentally pushing buttons. With the onx chip the map is a game changing advantage on the new screen.
If my screen was not broken I would not say that it would be worth the $750 but I’m still really happy to have it.

I do not have one, but I watched the video on double u's website describing it. The only advantage I can see in it over the 100 for me personally would be the fact that it has in-reach built in. All the other extras aren't worth upgrading to me personally. But the in-reach is definitely a selling point for me. I'm sure if I break my 100 in the future I will upgrade to the 200

In reach built in is a nice feature. For 14 dollars a month I have piece of mind that if I have problems in the backcountry I can get ahold of someone and not have to carry another device with me, also gives me confidence when I’m following on foot, if I do have a injury or something of the like I can text for help or hit the s.o.s button in a emergency. Customizing the training keys is also very helpful. Like any device or machine it takes some getting use to

I ended up getting a 200i and it seems nice. Still learning how to use it but very nice for my big running pointer.
