Bobcats eating porcupines

I was out fencing this morning and found a porcupine that looked like it had been eaten by a lion and I was wondering if bobcats will eat one like a lion. I've skinned quite a few bob's and haven't ever seen one wiht quills in it, but abot every lion I've seen has a few in his nose or on a front leg.

I have seen bobcats with quills in them, not resently but back when I trapped alot. Several times a season would find one with a few quills on the forelegs.

I was just thinking the other day on last time I seen a porcupine, they seem to be way down in numbers last few years. Used to see a couple dozen a day walking the river... Critters do cycle like that maybe they all been eaten up in this area! :wink:

I've caught a few bobs with quills in their legs. Wish the #'s were down here, pulled twice this year already, never pulled any last year.

Bobcats are the main Predator of the porcupine from what I've read. I geuss their pretty effecient at flipping them over and killing them on their backs.

kind of interesting - the F & G relocated fisher here- --a big selling point was that fisher eat porcupines-

now we have lots of fisher and lots fewer bobcat -

porcupine maybe a few less - still plenty --lol

ive seen quite a few bear with quills in them-- most very thin-

not sure if they eat porkys when they are thin or got thin because of quills

always chasing a cat to a rock pile and same rockpiles have a healthy population of porkys-

not sure how a porky could get away if cat wanted him -lol

Bobs love em. I get a few cats every year that have quills. I also get as many porkies as I can for their meat, I make a killer bait with it. Problem is they seem to be few and far between in my neck of the woods.

The story of them flipping them is what i have heard also. I know I have yet to skin a cat with them in their mouth, just forearms.

i know are cougar population went crazy when we lost it and its been a long time since i have seen one of them porkies, they say lion's love them, i have treed lions with a face full
