Story of my life this year! I’m so danged tired of family commitments that I’m about ready to start telling everyone to kick rocks.

So I made it out two days, well 1 1/2 days this week. I truck hunted in the snow with my daughter. Everything was going great until it wasn’t. The transmission went out on my huntin rig. I was 10 miles back, in about 2 foot of snow. Luckily I had enough cell service to get a couple calls out. Had to leave my truck and I’m really hoping it doesn’t get stripped by time I get back to recover it. It is in a remote spot so that might save me. I have to install a winch on my F-350 and get a buddy to steer it out while I tow it a mile or two, to where I can get my car trailer.

I had been planning to upgrade the transmission to a newer, stronger one. I was just hoping this one would make it through the winter ha ha ha.

Good pics rowdy. I’m glad that it’s snowing there and not here. I don’t care for the snow. We could use some cooler weather though. We are still running the A/C.

Thanks, I’ll good with the snow. Just didn’t have the time to get the truck home before I had to go back to work for a week and a half. I’m afraid tweakers will strip it.

Went out today against all judgement to find something in the bare frozen ground. One track a month old (I know because it was under the snow in some places. Had some really great deer races though, gotta train somehow it might as well be trash breaking.

Went out and wasted a bunch of diesel, driving around in the snow today. Found one older track around 3pm, the dogs worked it but once they hit the south slope, the snow had melted off so they lost it. I did get to use my brand new winch! I realized that I need to keep as much cable as I can, with me to reach those FARRR trees.

Did you get your hunting truck rescued? As long as the dogs got some work in you didn't waste the fuel lol.

No sir, she’s buried in snow if she hasn’t been stripped…
Yeah, you’re probably right. That was the first track I’ve gotten my youngest pup on. She stuck with my male and worked that track until they couldn’t anymore. Then I screwed up and drove within sight of them and they quit trying. I also took my oldest daughter with me, she had a blast playing in the snow and riding around with me.

Yes sir, just based off my getting to spend the day with my daughter made it a great day. I’m going to check on it Sunday. If I can’t get into it, I’m going to rent a mini excavator to drag it out….

Bear season came to an end today. It’s always bittersweet when it ends. Hunting buggy, equipment and hounds are all ready for a break. Last five days, we ended up treeing 5 and killing 4 with first time shooters. My 2nd year of really having my own hounds. I hunted them every chance I got. In all this year I treed 19 with my hounds and I know to some houndsmen that’s not many but I am happy with it.
