Gotcha. I’m in deep east Texas. Just got back into dog hunting after running the roads for work. Running mostly plotts now

I see. What style of dog is the cascade dog? Do you cast hunt or track hunt or how?

We cast hunt. I have a family of dogs that I’ve been building for 25+ years. They are catahoula and treeing Walker cross.

They mostly cold nosed gritty dogs. He’s still young and this winter will really see what he’s made of. A little of all of it. If I can’t find a track from the road I’ll cast them or walk them in. I hunt mostly National forest and the hogs are pretty thin here

That’s understandable. We are covered up in hogs but they are wild as can be. There’s a hog dog in every other yard around her it seems like. That and people shooting at them, trying to run over them, trapping, thermal hunters, helicopters, etc. makes them pretty skittish.

We don’t have the helicopters but we have all the rest. Makes for a lot of running hogs and it takes a dog with some stick to get them stopped.
