Well took the dogs for a good hike, had about a 4 mile cold trail and not one dog ever opened, they trailed into a barnyard at the bottom of the mountain and it ended there. Bring on the bears!! :D

The other day we got a dusting of snow so I tried running some roads. I took the lower road through a pass and then tried to get around the north side of a mountain. That turned out to be a pretty bad idea. I tried getting through a drift that was slush on top but iced up at about 6” deep. I slid sideways and off the road. I had to stay there until 2:00 the next morning when the ground had froze enough that I could drive out again. I had to let air out of my tires and put chains on, but I got out. I’m plain tired of the danged snow this year!

Heck if there is no chance of getting stuck or falling off the side of a mountain I'm not even interested.

Do you have any wolves in the area you hunt, and if so do you have many run ins? How hard are they to stay away from.

Knock on wood never had an issue personally but have buddies that had dogs killed on both sides of the house. With no snow not much a guy can do to know if they are around. Have a rule that the “w” word doesn’t get brought up in my truck but at the end of the day it’s a luck thing I believe.
