Coastal Bobcat

I plan to mostly hunt the coastal mountains of Oregon for bobcat, i was wondering whats a good way to find bobcats, lol? Where do they normally bed down? what do they eat, Tim on here mentioned they like their mountain beaver, as does the coon.
Im mostly going to hunt the loggin roads of the northern oregon coast from Tillamook up, so advice on 'roading' would be good too, lol.

The pup shows more interest in cats n yotes than coon, so I think i found what ima gonna hunt, lol.

i didnt want to chase grizzley the idea just popped into my head, most of the threads i start are just ideas that will probably go no where.
And yes i will chase bout anything, ive been hunting since I was 12 and have yet to get anything more than a rabbit and im bout to turn 20, why do ya think I got into hounds? lol!

Start with every colvert pipe going under the roads, thats were they travel, and hunt.

lol, found a coon in one of those culverts last night, and apart from the drag scent I think that was the first real coon scent the pup had, well the coon went bought 100ft down the 3ft wide/tall culvert and ya could barely see the flash of his eyes when a flashlight was shined down there, anyway long story short, the pup wanted the coon just not badly enough to crawl into the culvert, lol.

Your dog showed some brains there

Last year I had a dog go down a 18" culvert after a possom. This was only a 20 feet long and plugged at one end. I thought I lost my dog since he is 90lbs and sorta got stuck trying to get back out. The idiot was backing out with the possom in his mouth and about 3-4 feet from the exit he decides to turn around

I had a few bad moments there trying to get him out, finaly I just grabbed his head and gave a big tug and he popped free.

Then a few weeks later we ran a javalina into the same culvert and this time a differnt dog went in after it. He made it to the javalina and all hell broke loose in there. I dug like mad man to open the blocked end and let the javalina out. It all worked out ok though dog only had a few holes in his nose, nothing to go to a vet for. Could have been alot worse...

Hopfully they learned thier lesson and will stay out of those from now on haha...

You guys got me to thinking about culvert pipes. Here is a pic of what one of my young dogs caught this last winter.

There isn't many cats over here and alot of gated land mostly weyehauser wich doesn't alow houds and Stimpson that doesn't alow tresspassing. Living in Tualitin you would be better off heading east into the mountains. You will find more cats on that side of the valley.
