Woods Dogs?

Post by RAC »

I have hunted hogs for awhile now and am tired of the way most hog dog breeders are taking their lines. I once knew of a man in Georgia that did nothing but hunt train hog dogs for a living. He lived in Jesup had 500 acres and produced outstanding dogs which produced awesome results. Just wondering if anyone out there knows of anyone who is dedicated to providing hunters with jam up woods dogs. Everyone please keep in mind, I am not currently looking for a dog, rather a person who produces guaranteed finished woods dogs. I am currently deployed and cannot buy dogs till' I get back, so I am currently only looking for a contact.

Thanks

What breed are you looking for or type of dog?

I breed catahoulas and my own line of cur have at least 6 generations of both on the ground and about to breed again.

that's such a loaded question...i don't anyone will come on here and say that their dogs aren truly tested and you should go elsewhere. i have two dogs only one of which is hunting right now, the other is still too young. i know of several guys that i would recommend their dogs. i would recommend their dogs cause i've hunted with them and while all their dogs might not suit me they are tried and tested dogs that have caught numerous hogs. when you get back to the states hit me up and if you are close to texas i can give three guys numbers that have dogs that i have hunted behind have caught hogs with and they are straight up guys. what they say is truth, they have no reason to lie or to make a sale, they just as well keep all their dogs..if you aren't caught up in breeds, but hog dogs then i can help you. if you are looking for a certain breed i can't help as much as only one of these guys breeds pure bred dogs, the other two breed hog dogs, they take dogs that are proven, off of parents that are proven and put them with dogs that are proven and hunt the way they like..

I appreciate your quick responses. Ultimately I want woods dogs that if I turn them out in a head and they come out the other side I can sleep at night knowing there ain't any hogs in that block. If I can come across another dog like that I'll take it no matter what breed or color it is. My best dog has been a papered catahoula that was more muscley than most of the Florida catahoulas you see on their sites, so I naturally have a thing for boxy catahoulas. But by far the best dogs I have hunted with were bred from generation to generation for hog hunting and the average jo schmo would have called them mutts, so breed doesn't matter as much as nose, silent, speed, size, age, stamina, behavior and willingness for a trial period. Once again I appreciate your responses and I should be back before next summer.

RAC, Thanks for your service. When you get back, and if you ever come through West Texas, you would be welcome to stop in for a hunt and look at some dogs.
