Classified section

OK, I'm playing with an Idea. to make a Classified section separate from the message board,

You might have noticed the new buttons up top.

Play with it and if we like it, I'll clean it up and make more catagories.

That way we can build a bigger classified area.. ANd also not have to sift through the classifieds to try and find good Reads on the forum..

Let me know if you see any errors.. I just got it put up, after many hours and head aches, and bashing my skull into the ground... So I don't know how long it will work.. LOL

I kinda like the idea.. It can be useful for splitting things up and might help the moderators keep an eye on things..

Are you planning on splitting it into something like dogs/equipment/misc, or maybe by state?

The idea is it will still be easy to find.

I'm just tired of logging on and seeing people BTT ads and posting ads in three different sections.

The only main difference will be that when you click on the View topics since your last visit it would include all the Ads.

I'll Be messing around with it and see if it makes the cut.

It should be.

1. Easy to use
2. There will not be a minimum post count before people can post a for sale item.
3. Easy to use and navigate..

Let me know what Errors people are getting,

I just changed the permission.. I guess It was set that only I could view it.. (Kinda Hard to sell and Buy something with just me..)

I think I know what I need to do but it's going to take a little bit more head scratching.. Check back tomorrow..

Wow..

Pretty much got my ass handed to me tonight. Most be how my dogs feel like chasing a bobcat..

It's going to take more dog power to get this done than I originally thought.. (the instructions said 15 minutes..Yea.. right!)

I'll keep pluging away at it. I think I've got it down to not changing something in the Data Base.. But I'm tapped out and don't have any more ideas right now.. So I'm going to have to study and read and try and find a couple PHP experts.. Which by the way if there are any PHP experts out there that could look and follow some code that accesses the Database controling who is allow to view the classifieds, Currently it appears that only admin have those permissions..

Anyways I'd definately wouldn't turn you away if you were a PHP expert..Because I"m not!.. (waycool?? Buckshot?? :wink:

You have a coding issue that is not allowing the permissions to be set.

That is why only the ADMINs can see it since it will not allow you to change the permission to ALL.

I would first upgrade the forum to the latest version before adding any mods. Plus, running an outdated forum version leaves the forum vulnerable to security breaches.

OK, It will be on and off for a While as I get closer to understanding what the problem is..

Right now it should be open. but It's not fixed the right way..(I'm tricking the computer to allow everyone to view) But I can't do this to allow Everyone to post..

Ok.. I've manually set all the permission for the classifieds.. Not the Ideal way of doing things..

Doesn't mean anything to you guys, Just makes it harder for me to change the settings of it.

I've built a Play area. I would appreciate it if some of you guys would try it out and see what I need to work on next..

Just from looking at it I'll have to figure out and Smiles..Images and that stuff.. ..

Anyways.. Go ahead Try to break it..
