plott bloodline

Post by tom »

i use to have a plott dog that i didn't know the blood line but she was a great dog. she was real small probably about 50 pounds but had tons of grit. she was a real dark brindle color. i've seen other dogs like her before (real small and colored the same) but never have been able to figure out the breeding for sure. any ideas on what she might of been.

You're going to have a hard time finding out her breeding based soley on her physical appearance, at least with any certainty. Could be anything really.

if she looks anything like my dog she could be out of the weems strain. not sure though. my dog is a smaller hound but he is twice as fast as a bigger hound. look at my signature pic and see if he resembles her.

In the july issue of full cry theres a memorial/obituary of Dick Muldoon. It speaks of Dick and his "little red dogs". Though I don't believe it actually tells what the breed was. I think they weighed bout 50 lbs. Small dogs but apparently they were an exellent breed, not sure if they're cur dog's or what. Never heard of them before, but it might be worth your time to check them out, though I'm not sure how you'd do that :?:

Hope this helps some, best of luck!

50 pound plott dark brindle with tons of grit, that is like the breed standard so it could be any number of lines. Was there anything that made this particular dog stand out?

The dogs Dick Muldoon had weren't Plotts and didn't have any Plott in them. They were called, "Matthes Lion Hounds" and most were red colored. Originated in California from Steve Matthes.

Dick Muldoons "little red dogs" were Mathis lion dogs.
