Antennas ????

Post by Daniel Tremblay »

I was just curious what your guys thoughts were about a Folding 3-Element Yagi Directional Antenna compared to the 5-Element Yagi Directional Antenna. I know the 5-Element has a 8 Db gain and the 3-Element has a 5.6 dB gain. What does that stuff mean and is there a noticeable difference in tracking distance??

Red & white
Maybe Copper will chime in for you, he helped me a bunch via some PMs a while back. He knows his stuff.

If I remember right, the 5 element will get a better directional signal and maybe a hair more range. You may not notice the range in our mountains but should notice better directional signal.

You don't want a 5 element yagi, there big clumbsy, hard to pack around and deal with, heck a regular 3 is pretty annoying to me anymore....
