Anyone out there done the legwork on *DOG FRIENDLY* places to stay for the Zone Hunt? Not much info available online!!
SLC, Price and Vernal are a little far to stay and an awful lot of their "name brand" motels are not dog friendly.
Someone out there needs to call or visit around to motels, campgrounds, B&Bs, Ranches, etc, etc to find out which ones will allow dogs and what the prices are, and then report back....please!

WRONG!!!!
I was thrown out of a motel in MT because my dogs were "unattended" in my dog box in the parking lot. I had sat on the tailgate with them for several hours until it started raining. So then I was in my room with the curtains and window open when I saw the manager walk up to my truck and look in the box. The dogs barked twice.....TWICE......and he was at my door throwing me out within 10 minutes. I was on the phone with Tiny at the time it happened. The room had been booked 2 wks in advance and they were told I was traveling with dogs.
And when my first husband and I were on our honeymoon over 15 yrs ago, we were at a motel in WY and had parked across the street from the motel and were feeding and exercising our dogs in a vacant lot. This was several hours before dark -- I think about 4 in the afternoon (summer). They barked a few times (no, not excessively) and pretty soon a man came walking up to us and told us he would either have us thrown out of the motel or would poison our dogs.
So no, you can't assume your dogs are okay in your box in the parking lot if the motel is not pet/dog friendly!
I don't even bother pushing it if the motel doesn't allow dogs in the room, at the very least.

WOW!!!!!!! I've never heard of any being that stringent. I guess it goes to show ya how far they'll go.
It would be one thing if the dogs were barking continually, rather than an occassional bark when someone walked by.
Thanks for the lowdown Chawn.
Take it easy!

Chawn,
Its official that Heber Ut will be the hunt location for the Zone. There will still be casts going to the Basin, but the hunt location will be in Center Creek.
Camping will be free, and there will be plenty of space for the dogs.
There are several Hotels in the Area. I have not checked on which ones will be dog friendly, but will very soon.

If you're staying in Vernal plan on reservations a couple weeks in advance. Also most won't allow pets. At least they didn't 2 years ago. Not sure when the hunt is but I wouldn't want to leave dogs in the box by themselves very long this time of year anyway. There are plenty of public lands to go let the dogs run around on or for a guy to camp on.
