opening archery...crazy hunt

Post by houndcrazyfool »

last saturday my hunting partner and i went out for the opening of deer season. We saw some good bucks, i stuck a small non-typical 3pt. Then we went after a little bigger 3pt. To make a long story short we chased the buck around till his tongue was hanging out and my partner finally gotr an arrow in him. The buck was hit a little far back so we watched him until the sun went down from about 400 yards. Here is where the adventure begins!!! I brought my deer dog(33 pound rat terrior) the next morning(just in case), good thing. The dog was on the 12 hour track right away and when we got to where we watched the buck lay down the buck was know where to be found. The dog was on the track for a while but i had him on a 20ft lead rope so we kinda lost it for a bit. Then the dog picked it up and the pull was on... He took me right to him, the buck was laying right next to the lake. Not much of a surprise because he is the best dog i've ever seen. No joke! But the surprise was that tha buck was still alive! So i called my partner on his cell phone and told him to get his ass over to me. The dog was raring to go and it was hard to keep him quite. Anyway my partner finally got to me and put another arrow in the buck. I turned the dog loose and the buck headed straight for the water. The dog caught the buck in the water and got ahold of his head and horn and drown the buck. It was truly amazing. I got pics of me in my underwear dragging the buck out of the lake
