Got him this time!

Post by longshot »

I have bayed this boar 2 times before in a steep canyon and both times he bayed pretty but would give us the slip when he heard the catch dogs coming.

This time inbetween the rains DC and I turned out and we cut his track in the mud under a feeder.

Kat my Jagd Terrier located and bayed followed shortly by our 3 cur dogs.

We walked the 2 catch dogs up within 20yards. Pickle and Spanky flew in and caught him. He drug them through Lural and a cedar brake(you could follow the fight in the mud) but they put the brakes on him.

A few dogs had some minor cuts but nothing that will even require a staple.

Anyone want to guess the weight?

185 Those hogs look like their legs are a lot shorter than our boars.
He sure isn't short on teeth. Good hog.

LOL @ 12gauge.........THAT IS FUNNY

I didnt hear anyone say ONE pound.......LMAO I guess Plott proud already covered the low-ball guess though.

I have him in the walk-in cooler until a WWT scorer can come and get an offical weight. It may be a couple days.

They screw you any way they can. They stoled half our coon season here in the mountain but they are killing every coon they come across because they are overpopulated and rabies is on the rise. If they were serious about thinning out some of those stinkin feral hogs they would be letting us use dogs. Same thing with coyotes you can kill them year round but you can only carry a gun to do so during another season if they wanted rid of them as much as the deer, turkey hunters, and farmers do then there would be coyote season were we could carry a rifle year round. You bet your last dollar that they will never do hound hunters any favors in this state. They are now talking about issueing depredation tags for land owners to kill bears on sight because they say they are overpopulated and dangerous but they will not extend our kill season with the much more effective method of hound hunting.

Well Guys and Gals this hog will NEVER be scored. Last week I was out of town on a Texas State Parks and Wildlife Archery hunt in Rocksprings, TX.

The WWT scorer NEVER called me back and the cooler he was being stored in needed to be used for paying clients. The hog was in the 200-225lb range but I will not know for sure. His teeth are 3.25in and I will not have the skull until the buzzards pick it clean. :(
