dog killed last night coon hunting

Post by pat_kemp »

I had me one of my pups get killed last night. I turned 4 dogs loose and two of my old dogs went and started a coon also one of my pups was with them well they had it caught in about 10 minutes a big 32 pound sow. well i got there and my pup cashus wasnt there so i pulled out the tracker and i tracked him all night tell about 4 in the morning i couldnt get close to him in the dark because of a big cliff embankment thing. His signal never moved all night so i thought that was pretty weird. So i came back early this morning and tracked him again and i found him dead. He jumped off the little ledge deal and a stick stabbed him right through the heart and came out right in front of his hind leg. He was 8 months and kicken ass. He was going to be my best bear dog in a year.

Sorry to hear about your pup. I guess accidents happen to even the good ones.

Yes, that's a tough one, to lose your pup. If the stick did pierce the heart, it was quick........if that's any consolation.

I have had a couple killed while coon hunting over the years, although none recently. Thats tough. The coon hunting in this area is hard on dogs and people for that matter. Congrats on the nice coon. That might be the biggest sow I've ever heard of.

Yea, so sorry to hear that partner. I never had a dog die to a casualty.... fortunately. Hope you never have that happen again! Best of luck in the future!
