Bobcat Trapping

Post by mya »

Hey Guys,

I'm about to order my supplies for the up-coming trappin season. Stakes, pan covers, etc. Just wondering what everyones favorite cat bait/lures are. I realize some people out there think if they tell what they like its like telling others what the fish are biting!! However there is plenty of other factors that play into a set.

Anyhow, just wondering what a few of you trappers use for cats. I have been using Grawes cat passion with success among other lures.

THANKS

Lot of good lure on the market. Stick with one that is made in your area. East or West.
JC in the East is hard to beat.

How about live traps, what would you use for bait to pull the cat into the trap?

Here is good set for Bobcats, I have had good success using it. As far as lure, cat urine works very well.

Pull up a pile of trash or litter over a large bait, to mimic bobcat behavior. A smaller mound can be made with urine poured over the trash. This set is useful where exposed baits are illegal. This set should be used where backing such as rocks or trees are available. Place a steel leghold trap and guide sticks in front of trash pile sets.
