if he can keep up in the race im sure it would be just fine. I would run em together regardless. An old trapper friend of mine swares that muts make the best hunters and all his best dogs were strays that he found... so does it really matter? blood means alot dont get me wrong but ive seen it all work

Just help him along.
My beagle was medimnosed to hotnosed when I started hunting him(7 months old) for deer, but during the first winter I wanted to use him on red fox. I walked the tracks with him in a leash 'till the fox jumped, then let him go. After doing this a couple of times, he got the idea. He started his own(really cold) foxtracks by him self after that training.

Good luck,
Hans
