Ike
A younger buddy of mine got into hounds six or eight year ago and looked up and bought about every lion and bear hunting book with hounds he could find. He passed all those to me for a read and I returned them after I finished. I enjoyed most everyone one of them even thought most had blown their subject matter up bigger than Texas. I've been meaning to buy everyone one of those books for my own collection and for one reason or another I just never get it done, cause reading those books probably helps keep a guy grounded to reality...........

Growing Up With These Stories
I have heard most every story about Lee, Dale, and Danny more than a few times! Some I know by heart, and others I sit in awe listening as they are being told to that lucky hunter or friend. My dad "George" tells them as if it were yesterday. He laughs, shakes his head....I think he relives each and ever story ever time he tells them. Being his daughter I know have not heard them all, but the ones I have heard and he tells always captivate his audience. I don't know how many times I have heard about the 18 hounds he had and if one made a peep when they shouldn't... just a flick of the porch light was enough to make they all be silent. Or how he would walk out in the morning and the day was determined by the tone of his voice. It was either whistling and a "Hello dogs!" or "What the hell are you looking at?." Even though it was usually in teasing to see how his hounds would react. I remember my dad taking me over to see Danny at the horse stable. He would always put me on the best looking horse in the stable. Then he would smile as I rode off. Probably because he and Dad (George) could BS without me listening. I look around the cabin even now, and there are reminders of my dads adventures scatter throughout. Sometimes he will get the Jaguar call out (a gorde with a rawhide string) and show us how it works. I think many old and young hunters would miss a acurate, educational and hilarious opportunity if George were not to recount his adventures and put them down on paper! Trust me when I say I will treasure the stories he has told myself and my girls forever.......

lee bros
stitch, thanks. in talking to george he seems sure he has enough content to make a book worth while. george has the original gourd call they used to call jaguars with. i have been talking to george about adding a dvd. of him illustrating its technique. also would give him an opportunity to give a overview of how this got started. george said as he thinks about some hunts, he is writing them down. as he told me last night it has been close to 50 years ago. his daughter cully is excited. and so is george, i think he never dreamed anyone would be interested...... mike
