Re: Big Tom's Territory
A couple of years ago I cut a very large tom track crossing the road. I snowshoed after him hoping he would make a kill as he was following a couple of moose. At dark I left the track and woke up the next morning to a foot of snow. I went back and tryed to pick up on his track again. I circled him up often on my sled, and to my knowledge stayed in that circle for about 2 months. My guess is that he made a kill and while sitting on the kill he eventually killed another animal that sustained him for the rest of the winter.

I guess it would depend on a lot of things however here the deer can winter in alot of snow. The game yard up in pretty small areas up high and the Tom lives pretty high on the fat cause it's easy hunting. he doen't need to move at all.
Least in my experience the cat's move alot more on low snow years.

Re: Big Tom's Territory
Id have to say about the same as Horshur, Last year we didnt get that much snow in the good lion areas, and everytime i went up i cut a crossing lion track. Well this year has been different we havent had snow for very long but we have got alot of it now, for it being pretty early still, at least up in the places i hunt for lions. I just havent had as much luck cutting a track this year, theres been a few but not many. jmo
