Lion hunt.....or?

Post by Brady Davis »

Image

Here was the result ofour lion hunting yesterday. A friend and I looked and found no lion tracks, and, as it turned out he had a late season cow elk tag so he shot this cow. First time I have ever been there to kill and elk while lion hunting!

Congratulations on the elk coloradoB&T, and I'll bet that cow chews a little easier than that ol' tough bull I killed last fall......

There is a bit more meat on a elk anyway! Congrats on the fine harvest.

Do elk tree about like a lion or are they sneakier like a bobcat?

cordell,

I've never seen an elk tree but that would make a cool picture for sure. I did, however, hunt a guy one time that asked to bring along a couple of his dogs. My oufitter told me I should charge extra when ask that and I found out why, cause when I started a bear one of his dogs came back in five minutes and the other bayed up a six point bull elk. Now, that hound that caught the elk of his was pretty damn proud and fired harder, and was more committed, than the devil himself after that elk. I walked in twice trying to call of that dog and when the bull left so did the hound. It was around 10:00 AM when that all went down and that hound came back down his backtrail the following day around noon and was not soar footed. Had I been as smart as I am now I'd bought that hound off the hunter.................cause any hound that'll fire that hard on a stinky ol' elk would surely stay with a bear until hell froze over after he knew what one was!

Don't give these guys any ideas or they'll be stealing photos of my dogs and doing just that!
