use of hounds in South Dakota

Hey guys we are trying to get something passed in our state to try to implement the use of hounds in our mountain lion season. I think one of our biggest obsticles will be dealing with private land issues. I was trying to get my hands on some of the laws in the other states concerning the rules of hounds crossing private ground while in pursuit of big game. If anybody could give me some leads on this I would appreciate it. I am guessing that Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado would be the states that they would consider the most but any state that allows the use of hounds on mountain lion would be helpful. Thanks! Ross

Private Land Access
• Montana law requires hunters to have the permission of the
landowner, lessee, or their agent before hunting on private
property, regardless of whether the land is posted or not. Access
courtesy cards and a map directory pamphlet are available at all
FWP offices.
• Permission is required to release dogs or chase mountain lions
and bobcats on private land.

its the same as the general hunting regulations. Sounds pretty much the same as there in SD

Trespass
No person may hunt or trap any species of
game, including unprotected species, on private
land without permission from the owner or lessee
except in that part of the Black Hills Fire Protection
District south of Interstate 90. In that area,
no person may enter private land to hunt if the
land is posted or if told by the owner or lessee
not to do so.

also sounds like you have a law that would be easy to get the right to retrive.

In Montana, I believe that if your dogs go on private land, you must get permission from the landowner to retrieve them.
