ive been predator hunting for about 18 years now and have only called one in and just barely got a look at it... an ol gov trapper that taught me everything i know told me one day i was going to call in a lion. But the odds of you being in hearing range of a lion is not very good...
If you want a lion your gonna have to buy a good lion dog :beer

I have done that once in my life. The lion got about 300 yards from the Mesa we were on and Never saw it again.

Go to the Foxpro site and check out what's on the chat room. Some guys are doing pretty good at it. Also a guy in Oregon is an outfitter and uses calls with good success. Be carefull on the Regs., as it is illegal to use electronic calls for Lion here in Colorado.

I have called in several but I do better with odd calls that traditional rabbit distress calls. I think the reason is the lion is not wanting to come out in the open and mess with the coyotes around. Not that they are particulary afraid or anything it just breaks their secrecy. I called on with a bear call which is an immitation of a fawn in distress, and the other came in behind me to fox pups in distress.

Night is the best time to call them but illegal in most areas so try from 4 PM till dark as lion moves a lot just before dark to get in postion for deer.

Don't be fooled they can hear a call further than anyone can imagine their hearing is incredible.

Watch you back they will slip up on you, and rmember turkey callers get a lot of lion approaches so like I said odd calls. I have called bobcat up to my duck blinds before when blowing the lonesome hen call.

I've called one in using a WT caller and lion sounds. The cat vocalized on the way in or I may have never seen it. I used female & kitten sounds. It showed 50 minutes into the stand.

I also had a feather decoy the slightest breeze will move.

A guy I know called a female in a couple weeks ago with a foxpro using cow & calf elk sounds. Cat showed 35 minutes into the stand.

Just called one in saturday night he was on us in about two minutes. My guess is he was within fifty yards when we turned the call on. Showed up at about fifteen yards. Scared the crap out of me, we went home after that it would amaze you how much comfort the dogs give you.
There is a reason they call us lie'n hunters

i live in oregon and i have called several of them in with predator calls. the hardest thing is not calling them in to you, its seeing them when you have called them in.i have found that odd calls that they havent heard work best. believe it or not i have called them in with kitten in distress and moose distress calls. when you call in a lion they usually hang up just inside the brush enough that you cant see them unless you start picking the brush apart and really looking. they will usually sit like a dog and watch you for a while even if they already know what you are. i try to wait til i have a fresh skif of snow and try to find a track before i start calling just because i dont like wasting my time.

i hope that helps you out.
