Another Night...

Post by walkersforlife »

Well yesterday i got back from my first day of college and was sitting at work thinking about kill season next wensday and how i need to run my hound one more time before friday just to keep him in shape and unwind him abit. As I sat there Tempski texts my phone at 4:40 and says hey what you doing thinking about running something later. I said well i work till at least five, let me know if you find something good to run. So I got off at 5:15 and he texts me get out here got a couple nice hits. So i loaded up my two dogs, one really run able and my 5 1/2 month old pup and headed to the woods. I got there with another guy and we tried the first bait. But Old sugar couldnt get her figured out so we headed to the other bait, where we let sugar go again and right away she took it out of the bait, i walked my young pup in and see it was a 80 lbs track at best, just a young bear, and he was barking on the lead and pulling, he had a tracking colar on, i thought what the heck i cut him loose and off barking he went. took it out fight with the lead couple dogs, we threw a couple more in behind and they moved it out to a swamp. Well after five minutes they jumped it and brought it across the road where we threw in our last dog and my pup was second coming across and diving back in the other side. We moved to the next road where the bear crossed and we seen it was a 80 lbs scooter. They came to that road and there was Maverick again thrid dog out, but he was pooped, i was so happy i gave him plenty of water and loaded him up he laid down. Its finnally nice to see one of my young dogs, finnally start to amount to something. He has real potential and character, i have had dogs 2 years old that will when thrown out come back to the bait or just go screw around. I was real happy, we ran the bear for a few more hours till it was well after dark and we rounded the dogs up. It was one more nice run before kill season and gives me lots of hope for my little youngster!
