That is not a lynx, its a bobcat, lynx never get the heavy barring and rosetting, they are always 'ghosty' looking. That being said I wish I could import some of that cats genetics to around here because he is awesome looking. Love seeing the rosetting on cats. Its a mule deer that he has ahold of so its out west somewhere...sure would like to know where :D

Don't think there is really a pissin match just bobcats and they do look different in different areas. Down pretty deep south I have sat on deer stands and seen them slip out almost red on the back and that bob tail looking like it is almost half of a long tail length. And then you get one of these big stout built blocky Rocky mountain cats and that tail looks pretty short. Here in the four corners area all across southern Utah and North most Arizona and into Nevada you get some of these big cats that are almost startiling looking with their distinctive barring and super spotted bellies. We had some really good sized cats in eastern Montana and they got some heavy fur on them but a lot of the muted to a duller gray or rufous color and not the super spots on the bottom side. Hardings Magazine ( Fur Fish and Game) lists the pelts of fur market animals and it calls these high classed bobs the Rocky Mountain Lynx cat a fancy name for a chunky monkey bobcat with some high dollar fur. I have only seen a couple Canadian Lynx in the wild ( Oh yes they are RE-introduced) Re my rear we are a long ways from Canada: right down here. Well anyway Ghostly is beautiful and descriptive term for these phantom cats.

Bobcats kill quite a few antelope in this area. This fall during deer season I saw a big old bob burying an antelope right along the road where I had driven half an hour before. I didn't think that I could have missed it the first time by so I stopped to check it out and it was still warm. Wish I could have seen it happen.

I have a brother that lives in Wisconsin. Last summer he saw a house cat that had a whitetail fawn by the throat. He scared the cat off and tried the save the fawn but it died anyhow.

Most of the deer I have found that bobcats have killed have been smaller. However, my friend just ran a bobcat off of a full size doe. His dog is healing up. That bob bit her in the head, right in the cartlidge at the base of the ear. Those bobs are tougher than alot of people give them credit for.

We get different shades, colors and amounts of spots on our cats. I have heard of some being called Rocky Mtn. Lynx cats, like the one in the lower picture. If you saw that one on the tailgate from a distance, it would make you wonder, since it hardly has any spots at all, so I think some of our Lynx sightings maybe cats like him.
We have always just called them all Bobs. We have caught some big ones off young buck kills, and a few does. Deep snow is one thing, but to bring one down in the wide open is pretty impressive.

Looks like a prime Bobcat if I ever saw one! I knew that they killed deer but always thought that they killed em while they were bedded down notwhile they were on foot.

First off speaking of different colored cats, last years top cat at the fur sale came from Nevada and sold for $1500. Boy our cats don't even compare.
Second this winter we found where two bobcats attacked two yearly elk. They didn't kill the elk but one elk was missing an ear and the other was bleeding down the rear leg. We found the tracks where it all took place and started following the tracks when we found the elk. One cat is dead , but the other one is still out there harassing the elk............................................

Jeff look at the times on the pictures you posted. Could be a good photo shop job on those.
