Got to love the houndsmen of Utah !!!!!

Post by wac and stack »

Last week I lost a dog on the mountain, I had to leave her over night. We were hunting close to the highway so i was worried about her getting run over, so i returned early the next morning. No signal no dog. I looked for the next three days, nothing. I had a feeling that she had been ran over. I finally walked the highway and found her. That pissed me off that I had let this happen, but what really makes me mad is some great person probably one of our fellow houndsmen made stolen my tracking and shocking collars off her. What the hell is wrong with people its bad enough to lose a dog, but then to lose your equipment to a person that thinks they need it more than you do sucks. People Suck!

Wow! I mean drop kick me Jesus right in the jaw when a guy is down.........

Sorry to hear about you loosing the dog and don't have a clue what to say about the equipment. I do hope, however, that there aren't many people who would do something like that...

A few years back my wife and I were driving to Salt Lake City down Daniels Canyon and found a plott dog running up and down the highway. That dog was just moments from getting turn into road kill, and I luckily stop right in the middle of the highway to stop traffic until I caught it. That dog had a tracking collar with NO NAME PLATE on it?

I hauled that thing into Heber, bought a roll of rope and tied up up out behind the gas station with the owners' permission. I told them if the owner didn't come along and claim it that I'd pick it up on the way through that night. When I returned that evening the hound was gone, and I never knew whether the right owner found the dog or not. I guess Utah Houndsmen come in all shapes and sizes with all degrees of honesty and honor.........

What a kick in the nuts. I'm sorry to hear about your hound and equipment. Please keep in mind that the people or person who did that was no houndsman. Period.

Again, sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss man. I cannot believe who ever picked up your collars didn't call you and say the same. I'm again sorry and hope that whoever did this is reading these posts and gets your collars back to you.

What makes you think that the collars were taking off after the dog was dead? Maybe somebody took the collars off and the dog got hit. Its happen to me before, somebody took the collars off one of my dogs then i found the dog running down the road luckily she didnt get hit. why do u think it was another houndsman??

No one but me could catch this dog, so she had to be dead for some one but me to get the collars off. I'am not sure if it was another houndsmen but how else would take tracking collars of a dog that was as flat as a pancake and leave the name collar?

Sorry about your dog. I have seen it happen a few times.Where i used to hunt in northern NM almost every time we turned out we had problems with the "locals" stealing our dogs and collars and throwing them on the ground, a few times they wouldn't know what a tracking collar was and we would track them to their yard they would say " non no dogs here, no savvy" then we show they the signal and mysteriously they would point to back yard and they would be the dog. A friend of mine knew an old mexican up there and when we lost signal call him tell him where we lost them and in a few days he would call and say "got your dog". He must have had some clout up there with those "locals". I finally quit hunting up north before I shot a mexican I mean "local" over a dog, too bad lots of game up there.

I don't know what kind of collars you have but, if you had tri-tronics shock collars there is a serial number on them. It's the same one thats on the tranmitter. If someone sends them in and tri-tronics might be able to help you get it back. If you know your freq. number and manufacturer they might be able to help you also.
