Post by lbird »

Has anyone tried one of these yet. I need a new GPS and if the thing can track a hound thats a added plus if it works. Saw one in Full Cry for $599 with a collar.

ya I've got one and it is so much easier than the bleep bleep method!! it tells how far away, what road there on(after you by the map from garmin) also tells of their treed of running... we got on a bob last night and it was coming up out of the brush and before it got to the road I got in front of it and turned it back into the timber!!! it is totally worth every penny I spent on it. :D

Says that each additional collars are $199 Jared has some good questions on the collars how are they for holding up to the wear and tear. And has the antenna ever busted off being a solid antenna.
Thanks for the replies

so far so good on my system, the only thing I don't like is that the collars move to the side of there neck when there in the box. the antenna's seem to be really flexible!

I seen a add in the new full cry, that showed a counter weight on the collar to keep the anntena on the top side of the neck.
I was wondering how heavy the collars are? with or without the counter weight ? comparable to to a johnson or quiktrack?

I thought the add said 5 mile range. does the terrain matter?
Do you know if the collar sends the signal directly to the reciever, or does it go to the satalite then relay to the reciever,
if its the later I would guess that the terrain would have no negative effect.

What kind of terrain did you pull the short tail out of? I am in the market for a new tracker and the garmin seems to be my choice but I am still curious as to its limitations?
