lever actions are my favorite. 357 & 44mag.

i use a marlin 45/70,hits hard,never had one run too far.

If the bear is treed a 222 remington with 55 grain soft points. Surprisingly it kills incredibly quick and does not exit if there is a bay up. Although on the ground I prefer something that will break the bears spine from every angle 30-30 or 45-70. I tall boils down to the shooter.

just traded into a winchester pre 64 1894. it is a take down model 64 in 30-30. short barrel and fast handling. never owned a 30-30 before any suggestions on ammo type?

AS FOR YOU 30:30 AMMO I WOULD SUGGEST REMINGTON 150 GRAIN SOFT NOSE ON ANY GAME BUT AS FAR AS A GOOD CALIBER FOR BEAR A 22 CAN GET THE JOB DONE SO AFTER THAT BEING SAID ALL ABOUT THE GUN AND CALIBER YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH I FEEL THAT ONCE YOU GET COMFORTABLE WITH ONE GUN THATS THE ONLY ONE YOU WILL EVER NEED FOR ANYTHING

i shot 308 and 30-30. i hand load them with 170 interlock bullets by hornaday.they shot good and hold together. i load them in my 308 and the shot well and will shoot a good group at a 100 yards. the resain i am shoting the 30-30 bullets it that my remington 600 moawhack it only has a 18.5 inch barrel.
