Opening Cat season

Post by Buddyw »

We ditched the Field trials sunday to go play.. First Race of the cat season, and we got spanked.. sounded good but I don't think we even got it jumped. new area, behind the dogs on Foot, and with the tracking box in the truck(bad choice) I can't imagine the old times when you didn't have tracking.. We tried our ass, but couldn't keep in hearing range too well. By the time we decided to head back to the truck and get the box dogs started filtering back..:(

On a positive note we didn't chase any sheep, deer or Elk.. did Have the pup strike a Deer from the truck but that was about it. ( but I was kinda proud that she even struck anything!)

I was expecting World War III with these dogs chasing anything with legs and a smell.

with any luck. I might get them bent before the last day of season.

Met some new faces Saturday at the Event! that was nice.

I had a pretty nice start this weekend :D Had Brisco and Mabel rig one off the box.. I was super pleased since we have been trying to convince them that we don't want to chase those black things anymore...

Jack (it really is short for Jackass) and Jane took the backtrack on it.. Dumb pups  I picked Jane up a while.. Boy was she happy to see me.. Jack of course it a pain to pick up.. But he managed to redeem himself by putting a cat up himself. I do believe he finally turned himself around on track and then trailed himself to where Mom and Dad had put the cat up before.. I think he then trailed the cat out and treed it again.. I am pretty sure it was the same cat...

We seen a little bear cross the road and a BIG cougar.... Nice weekend.. besides the fact I hiked my butt off to get to Jack and his tree. He couldn't tree it next to an old skid road like Brisco and Mabel did... Nope..

so i went out last night to this new area that i found that is really really steep country from the top i can see pretty much the whole willamette vally it is an awsome view i will try to get pics for oyu all to see but any ways its all pretty much reprod then on top it leads in to big timber looks real catty so i get about half way to the top and the dogs blow up so i turned down two dogs and they took it out so i turned all of them in they went t right up to the top to the back side then looped around and came back to my side i was scootin up a skid road and passed two guys i couldnt get any signal so i went up this little road and turned the corner and three dogs saw me and came to the truck i thought they were just walkin down the road so i got out to load them up and sure enough the other 2 were comin out of the brush i am thinkin i pretty much fowled it all up witch sucks but no big deal i will get back on it agian. when the dogs came to me there tongues were pretty much hangin to the ground that hill kicked there butts. so i figure i am gonna hunt up there more get them dogs in good shape the only deal is when they tree i have a heck of a walk to get to the tree but i guess it will be worth it. hope everyone else is doin good.
cant never could
