Had a really good day!
We had a pretty good day yesterday! Turned out on a fresh lion track at about 9 a.m We casted my 10 month old Duncan bred B@T and 2 of my buddies dogs. They had it treed in short order. I found another track around 10:30a.m., this time I only turned out my B@T, and my 6 month old redbone pup(Mark Bates-T-Top bloodline), They trailed the cat for about 5 hours in tough conditions and put a nice female in a tree all by themselves. On the way out, I had a bobcat cross the road in front of my rig, so I got ahold of my buddy and we put his dog and my B@T pup on it, and they had it treed in about an hour! Not a bad day! I'll post pics soon.

I am glad someone was able to make good out of the snow we got yesterday, our cat season closed two weeks ago.

Re: Had a really good day!
That's a great day!
Boy am I glad you caught that bobcat when it ran across the road in front of you. I have had a perfectly good day ruined by bobcats doing that and then making my dogs look foolish when they can't catch it. I usually hunt by myself, but trust me there will always be sombody with me when this happens. LOL!
I came driving over a hill one time and there in the middle of the road was a big nice bobcat eating on a road killed porcupine. Oh Boy! This is going to be easy. I had some pretty good dogs along and I was already counting the fur money. The bobcat didn't even really run off it just walked out into the sage and looked back. My friend had a pistol and he said should I shoot it? Oh no don't do that let's let the dogs catch it. Right! It was raining a very light mist but the ground was saturated so you would think easy tracking. Well the sun was still behind the clouds but the day had warmed up some and I guess the ground was giving up vapor even though you really couldn't see it. We let the cat trott up the hill into the trees and then went and collared the dogs and walked them out towards the track. Now I am talking about dogs that could catch an old lion on bare ground, and catch bobcats on night old tracks in snow. Not one of those dogs could smell a thing. Nothing! I mean I went running up towards the spot where it entered the trees hissing the dogs they ran around me and looked back at me like I was crazy. Oh boy did I take a ribbing about that one. Trust me that is not the only time it has happened but it is the only time they couldn't smell a thing. Just like it was a ghost.?

Yeah been there on that one.We 've watched bear run off the road infront of us and put some of the countries best bear dogs on it only to have them run around looking for something that(in their minds)was not there.
Pretty tough to explain.

She is out of that cross. I am crazy about her too! She is as gamey a pup as I have ever seen! She was the runt, and I think she is going to be outstanding. How is your pup doing?
