Any of the major brands will treat you right. Pick one with the features you want and go with it. Most people tend to think bigger is better but not for hunting unless your going to try to haul lots of dogs on it. A 350 will do most anything you want and remains small enough to get through and under places larger ones can't go and is a little easier to manhandle if needed. Good luck.

Oh ya, get a winch on it.

Ive owned them all. Fond of the Polaris Ranger for long hauls but i agree with Kickemall, get a small one with good gear options, the automatics like on the polaris, are hard to handle down steep hills, You have to give them gas to have the engine brake work. I would choose a honda if you are looking for a smaller quad, If your thinking big, i have a polaris 700 that is hard to beat..

My 2 cents.

Couldn't disagree more on getting a small machine. 350's won't even go here in CO. Anything less then a 500 and you'll be sitting at the truck wishing you had a machine that could get you through the deep snow or over that pass that is 11,000 feet. Then if you ever want to put tracks on it, you have to have at least a 650. Then load them up with dogs and gear and you'll wish you had more power to haul everything.
I've found the most important thing is to get a true 4x4. Most quads aren't. Some models of Kawasakis and Yamahas have locking differentials. If you are going to be if rough country or deep snow, then you'll need to lock your differentials. Most quads only have power to 2 wheels and call themselves 4x4s. Once you have one with lockers, you'll see the difference, almost impossible to get stuck.

i would have to agree with the guys on the big quads. but only if your using it for deep snow. if its just trails you should be fine with a smaller one. i would also say that if your goin in snow or any were muddy aftermarket tires are a must. i run ITP XTRs on all my quads(brute force750)..but over all i wouold not recomend a quad..one of the sprotyer UTVs is the way to go..we've had many quads and will never buy another one over a rhino. we have the 660 with tires and alot of aftermarket stuff and it gets you alot farther..the only diadvantage is skinny trails, but we dont have to mych trouble with that

i guess it just depends on what you want to do with it and where you plan on going. a small one is easier to manhandle and it will do you well in semi, rough conditions by yourself if it is not loaded down. A big quad will power through a lot more and haul a lot more. I would suggest a bigger 4-wheeler if you plan on hauling your dogs/equipment around on it so it doesn't bog down and be more of a pain than it's worth. If your riding on it yourself and not plan on putting it through abusing country, a smaller quad would be more suitable. And it's all up to you on what you buy. they all make a decent quad, just personal preference.
