the pups first rigged bear.

Post by chilcotin hillbilly »

Cookie and Burger have only seen 4 bears this spring and when they opened up in the truck I thought what the heck lets see if them pups are starting to figure out the game. 800 yards later this young boar was up the tree.

Congrats to you and those hounds and thanks for sharing chilcotin hillbilly. I was gone out of state over the weekend and returned home to make an afternoon or evening hunt up the canyon. I took five hounds and they rigged pretty hard in one spot around 5:30 PM, so I kicked one, then two then all five dogs down.

They cast around and started a bear off a stump that bear had rooted up and wanted to head across the river. But while I was looking for the track I jumped a small creek and turned my ankle pretty badly, then called the dogs in before they got gone. The Doc did shoot an x-ray of my ankle and says nothing is broken, but he gave me a splint and a set of crutches and told me to stay off my feet for a few days.......

I only hope I am up and running in a week or so and the dumb mistake I made hasn't cost me the spring pursuit season.........guess a guy should always lace up his hunting boots rather than stumbling around the truck looking for tracks with cowboy boots on huh??????

Sorry to hear that Ike, heal up quick. I have been quite busy working so hunting is an after dinner deal lately. so I am happy with the 6 trees I have made in 7 times out. the pups are turning out great.
