CANADIAN Couger hound HISTORY
CANADIAN Couger hound HISTORY
I was wondering, there seems to be a tonne of history regarding hounds in the US, where they came from, and how they originated. Is there anyone out there that would share some info on Canadian hounds and there lineage? I really enojoy these storys and would love to hear some that come from up here! I realize alot of them are influenced from dogs out of the states but lets hear about em' anyway!
Thanks
Thanks

houndcrzy,
I'm not from Canada so I'm not going to pretend to know much, but I do know that the Layser hounds ( B.C.) originated from Slash Ranch/Lee Brothers breeding. Then Dans Father added some of the traits he liked in a hound after that, then Dan and now his son Kyle is working with his Dad on things.

Thanks catman! I have heard rumor of some hounds in B.C. originating from the Slash Ranch hounds. I wonder who else has some of those dogs relating back to those originals?

Re: CANADIAN Couger hound HISTORY
A little while back I was looking through my old partners records, and saw where he had sent a few dogs up to Canada in the 80's. He had some of that old original blood, and he sold a good many dogs. Pat Wantland was his name, and he still dabbles a little in dogs. He kept accurate records with pictures, and where they went. One thing I do know, it's hard to get to the bottom of a lot of dogs lineage. I was researching a dog named Bannana a while back and talked to the guy who bred him, and he couldn't quite remember how he was bred, just from the stuff in his yard. So who knows. It's a crap shoot I think.
